A message from Uncle Owen, the Convenor
Hello members and friends of the Indigenous Party of Australia. Well, we are getting close now to submitting our papers to Canberra for registration. We are very close to 550 members and we have a simple constitution ready to go. We will have to make changes to it if Canberra say so. But they seem a friendly mob in the electoral commission and they seem keen to help us. As a rough guide we are hoping to be an official Party by end of February. If we have to make changes then April.
I am travelling around NSW meeting a lot of you mob and we put on a sausage sizzle to make it easy to get a feed while I am around. Email the office if you want us to come to your town. We want to yak with as many members as is possible on our limited funds.
We want to know, “What are the problems in your area. How can we help?" And we want Indigenous members to start thinking about running for State or Federal parliament. Even local councils. It is Policy no 8 on the website. We are a Political Party so to stay that way some of our members must run for parliament. This is how we will get real change by being in the Parliament when decisions are made. Not consulted, later, when it is too late.
Going to hand over to Kahlia. Be seeing you. Thanks for your support.
Kahlia: “Hi Great People, my name is Kahlia and I look after the Facebook site. I try to answer questions where I can. I let Uncle Owen know if a debate is raging which concerns us. We want lots of debate on Facebook to hear different ideas. I also am interested in fundraising but I don't have much experience there. Email the office to contact me.”

Charlotte and Gab: “Hi Fantastic supporters. We are in the office 3 half days a week. Just about everything comes through to us. We talk to Uncle Owen a lot and pass on your concerns and messages. We are your main contact point for the Party. Send us an email at indigenouspartyofaustralia@gmail.com. We do not respond to Facebook. You must email to get a response.”
Laurie from Newcastle: “Hey everyone I am on the National Executive and I want to see a competition to design a t-shirt for the Indigenous Party of Australia. Put it out to a vote! $25 phone voucher for the winner! Email the office if interested. Start designing your t-shirt designs ASAP!”
John Weeks: “Hey John Weeks here. I am new to the Party but I have been accepted as the Central West rep for the Party. I do Orange, Forbes, Parks etc. Really looking forward to meeting Uncle Owen in a couple of weeks at the sausage sizzle. I have got about a dozen key Indigenous mob ready to yarn with him.
Fundraising. Hey people we are going to need to raise funds. Anyone out there who thinks they can help, pls let us know. This is a most important job. Thanks to Chris from Melbourne who said he will do what he can. It is never easy to raise money.”
